Hi my name is Emily and I have bipolar disorder. My journey with bipolar disorder started in the late ‘90’s when I was just entering college. I was originally diagnosed with depression and this treatment proved unsuccessful because it did not address the manic phase of bipolar and in fact made it worst for me. I’m sharing my journal entries so others can gain some perspective of what is going on in the mind of those with bipolar. It was originally a very scary time for me and it took a long time for me to get properly diagnosed and treated. Today I work full time and have great friends and family who support all that I do. It’s been so long since those dark days before I was properly diagnosed that I can barely remember what is was like back them. My message to all those who are suffering from BP is one of hope, that with the correct regiment of medicine and treatment you can go on and live a wonderful productive and passionate life.
