The Cheryl T. Herman Charitable Trust actively funds research
The Cheryl T. Herman Charitable Trust was established in 2006 in memory of Cheryl T. Herman and under the direction of John Zajecka, MD. Cheryl passed away at the age of 53 following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer and years of suffering with severe depression.
Cheryl was known to many as a passionate and determined woman who never succumbed to illness or allowed it to keep her from enjoying life. She went out of her way to seek out beauty in even the simplest things.
Before finding treatment for her depression, Cheryl described the crippling pain of her depression as being more difficult than many of the other struggles she experienced throughout her life. As a result of her own experience, Cheryl had a mission to prevent others from experiencing what she went through herself – a mission she pursued with the same passion and determination she showed elsewhere.
One of Cheryl’s final wishes was to support continued progress in understanding and treating mood disorders through research, education, and collaboration under the direction of John Zajecka, MD. Who was appointed by Cheryl as the Trustee.
The Cheryl T. Herman Charitable Trust actively funds research in areas such as treatment resistant depression, expanding the current state-of-the-art approach to the diagnosis, treatment, and expanding educational endeavors of bipolar disorder and related illnesses.
The work of the Cheryl T. Herman Foundation is to help to achieve the request of Cheryl to allow others to go through life without the unnecessary suffering of a mood disorder, and to experience the same passion for life that she exemplified.
